My boyfriend and I were driving along "The Romantic Road" tour as sold by Cheltenham Spa Council when we stumble across your pub. We only wanted a small bite so we shared a pint of Lager Shandy, a plate of Sunday pork roast and to finish off with the Spotted dick and custard! It was an AMAZING meal. Wonderful surroundings and great food. Definitely will try to return...sometime throughout our lifetime..

I was the pilot of the hot air balloon that dropped into your field on Friday evening (3/7/09). One of the best places to land that I have ever found. Friendly reception, great landlord and staff and fantastic customers - good beer too!

You are on my map as a place to land if I ever come that way again. Thanks.

What a cracking time we had as the headlining band at the Daneway Music Festival 2009! Great setting, great pub, great vibes - and what dancing! Many thanks to Richard the landlord, his family and crew for hosting the event. Huge thanks also to Simon Riley for his immaculate organisation. We loved every minute!

Comment: This is a lovely unspoilt pub in a beautiful setting run by a
very welcoming couple. We camped here for three nights enjoying the beers,
food and good atmosphere -- all a mercifully short stumble from our tent!
For an unadulterated experience in a picturesque corner of the country we
cannot recommend this place highly enough.

Why is it called the Daneway? I meant to ask the landlord as he was very informative about the old canal and very pleasant and welcoming. We came across the Daneway coming from the old church in Sapperton and still amazed at the effigies in there. Slid all the way down the hill in the snow. Nice ale and pleasant to sit outside even on a February day. Great old house, lots of interesting features and the walk along the canal looking at the old locks with the irises just coming up was wonderful in the late afternoon sun. A pub and area well worth visitng in all seasons.
